This video is to promote a new season from the BBC called “Superpower” which launches on 8 March, in the video “the people of the internet” are portrayed as extraterrestrial figure sending messages to the people of Earth, showing how important the internet has become to civilisation and its impact on how we live.
This video featuring Bill Nighy has been created by the people at Robin Hood Tax which is a group backed by many charities, unions and celebrities including Oxfam, the Salvation Army, Bono & Richard Curtis.
The idea is to call for an international transaction tax on investment banks with the alleged potential to raise as much as £250bn a year to bolster public services and fight climate change and poverty.
Will be interesting to see how it goes I bet a lot of politicians and economists will favour this approach to banking reform 😉
This video is from the Real News Network and according to Professor James Crotty: We are heading for an even bigger financial crash which is due to the creation of speculative bubbles which create false values which lead to huge bonuses! A very interesting insight and some of the comments are as enlightening love the quote:-
“People inflated the prices of tulips and soon everybody was hoarding them, and selling their houses in order to get rich off them.”
The following video is more insight from Profesror Crotty – Exec compensation: “Heads I win tails you lose”
OMG is this for real my mate in Australia Malcolm just sent me this, as The Reserve Bank of Australia put interest rates up 0.25% last week, so Westpac put their rates up 0.45% hence they thought they needed to release this Peter & Jane Style Ad for Australian Consumers, is it all really down to Banana Smoothies?
I thought it was more to do with greed and avarice in the banking sector, maybe just a little confused but you have to love the way they describe how the banks work like a smoothie operator and how the financial crisis is the equivalent of a perfect storm!
The above video is one of many which a good mate of mine Drayton Bird has decided to share with people online, he has to be one of the most straightforward talking people I have met and he has been fortunate to be involved in some of the biggest marketing businesses in the world!
On his site you’ll find lots of free stuff you can steal. All guaranteed to make your marketing work better and help you work better and grow your business in a sensible way and here is an example of his straightforwardness:-
“Don’t be ashamed, because I stole a lot of this stuff myself in the first place … And got the rest through bitter experience, some with my own money but most with millions of £££s worth of my clients’.”
I think the picture says it all 🙂
Well quite a lot of data here and lot to think about, more can be found here will be interesting to see what everybody thinks to this video?
We are definitely seeing a change in the way we are doing business and how people interact and traditional means of communication are being affected. For the last few centuries media publishing houses have controlled the run of information to and from people and they have distributed news and informational content all over the globe, however the internet and social media have opened up the door to the average person to distribute their content, ideas and detail on an international scale with immediate effect.
Following on from the post the other day and how print maybe needs to look at their business models especially online, then Rupert Murdoch goes and confirms that all News International sites will soon start to charge for content!
What smacks of corporate lunacy looks like bringing major benefits to bloggers and other independent publishers as surely people will source there content from these instead of the fee based print moguls.
A bit more background can be found here.
Just read this brilliant article on Mashable about the future of education and how the internet can make a change to both how we educate and at what cost.
It can only be a good think if just a few of these elements continue to grow and maybe the changes that the digital medium can bring to both the economies and people of the world along with the benefits to the environment will start to gain more pace.
Google have just dropped a big spanner in Microsoft’s operating system works and the impending launch of Windows 7 as they announced yesterday that they are going to launch an operating system based on Chrome in 2010.
“However, the operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web.”
The beauty of this OS is that it is going to be open source and Google plans to release the open source code for Chrome OS later this year ahead of the launch next year. I wonder if it will be around the same time as Microsoft lunch Windows 7.
More detail can be found here at Techcrunch.
I wonder how long it will take for somebody to do a YouTube Hitler Parody like this 🙂
