Worlds Biggest Bank Job!

the-italian-job-poster-c10281780

Is it just me or is the current world financial mess, resemble nothing more than the worlds biggest ever “Bank Robbery”!

We have all seen the film the “Italian job” and even read/remember the “Great Train Robbery” but all of these crimes both fictional and real pale into insignificance with one that is being played out today!

One of these is based on fiction and the other carried out by small time criminals who basically either spent a lot of time in prisoner or died without getting the chance to spend their ill gotten gains (not that I condone this type of thing).

A bit of a flip side from what we have witnessed over the past 20+ years where market economics and capitalism seem to have gone a little over the top!

Surely something/bodies need to be questioned and held up for this mess! In the case of the later the arrested individuals received lengthy sentences to make an example of their audacious crime…

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few days especially since the US bailout seems to have failed at the moment.

Wall Street Crash

It was 1929 when Wall Street last experienced times similar to what we are witnessing now; but they did not have anything like the complex technology and so called accountancy standards that we have today.

So either something is a little rotten or maybe accountants/bankers can’t count after all!

Bankers

Will we witness a change in our society?

Not sure but a slight re-adjustment could not hurt and perhaps we all could start to utilise the facilities we have at our disposal (technology-health care- education)Β  for the benefit of all instead of a select few.

Times Must Be Hard! HRH the Queen Asks for Handout…

untitled-11

Just noticed the above headline in todays Independent.

Blimey what is the Queen to do?

I can only think of a few options maybe rent out a few rooms? or perhaps a trip down to Cash Converters (there must be a bit of stuff lying around)?

At least as a pensioner she should get a little help with the Gas & Electric!

Google Android Phone with T-Mobile…

google-phone-t-moble
T-Mobile launched the G-Phone today which at first glance seems to want to be both a Blackberry and an iPhone with both touch screen and slide keyboard; at the moment the T-Mobile version only connects up with Gmail and in fact you need to have a Gmail account to use the G-phone. The key to this phones success will be how apps are created and distributed.

Will be interesting to see how the mobile market evolves with these new types of hardware!

“Asta la Vista” Seinfield… Hello “I’m A PC” in Microsoft Ads…

So Asta la Vista (sorry ;)) Seinfield and hello to “I’m a PC” ads which are positioned as a response to Apple’s ultra-popular “Mac vs. PC” ads.

See what you think (I did like the Bill & Jerry ones a bit quirky but hey)

Not sure how true this is but there are rumours that quite a lot of people in the ad use MAC’s and the Ad istelf was edited on a MAC πŸ˜‰

Financial Market Meltdown!

With all the talk about the current “Global Financial Meltdown” I remembered seeing a clip from US TV last year where US financial pundit Jim Cramer had quite a lot to say about the state of the Markets (August 2007) he certainly was very angry about some of the failings in the Markets; maybe people should have listened to him then.

To quote Jim “we have Armageddon” and “will somebody come on TV and tell the truth”…

Here’s a 45 page slide show that maybe explains how some of the current financial crisis came about…

And here is an article on todays BBC site that I thought was quite apt “Where now for capitalism?”

All of these have been put here as a little montage of items that may shed some light on the current situation or generate some thoughts πŸ˜‰

IMDB to Offer Free Movies & TV Shows…

logo2

IMDB (Internet Movie Database), has announced it will offer free streaming availability of some 6,000 full-length feature films and TV shows. The content is being provided by CBS, Hulu, Sony Pictures Television and over 500 independent filmmakers.

The free shows will be shown with advertising maybe this move will turn this site into a serious threat to iTunes?

Unfortunately for anybody outside the US the streaming videos will only be available to US based viewers with the exception of a few independent productions.
